Our Stay at Gill Brow Farm

Sorry for the delay in new postings, but we've been on a farm for the last four days out in the countryside, where we had no internet access. From Edinburgh we rented a car and drove a couple of hours southwest to the Lake District in Cumbria, England. We slept in a farmhouse in Newland Valley outside of Keswick. The boys loved being among the animals and their muck, although when we first arrived Nathan wouldn't stop plugging his nose because it "stinks so bad." We soon became used to the stink of the sheep, which probably means that we started smelling the same as the sheep. Isaac spent every moment he was outside either playing with the dog, Glen, or searching for him. On Saturday the boys pet a new lamb, they have since named Shawn, and this morning before we left Nathan was allowed to bottlefeed him(actually he's a she).

My favorite part of the stay was the magnificent scenery. We were surrounded not only by sheep covered fields of green, wooded hillsides, daffodil dotted slopes, rocky crags, waterfalls, gurgling streams, not to mention numerous lakes.

  1. We like the pictures. What fun! So, how did you get the opportunity to stay on a farm for so long?

  3. Well, they didn't have to do any of the farm work, it's more like they got in the way of the work.
