The INCIDENT at the Mine

The day we were going to take a boat tour of the lake it rained all day and was quite cold, so we abandoned that idea and took a scenic drive through the pass instead. We stopped at Honister Pass to take an underground tour of the slate mine, and while making a mad dash from the car to the entrance in the pouring rain, Nathan slipped and fell flat on his face. His cheek swelled up like a golf ball in less than a minute and, needless to say, we didn't get to tour the mine. Steve drove speedily, on the left, down the canyon to the hospital which took about 30 minutes. Nathan was asleep when we arrived. We sat in the waiting room for another 30 minutes, and by the time the nurse came to look at him, I knew that he was going to be just fine. Luckily, she took a quick look and charged us nothing. So much for our day out on the lake. Photo 1: Day 1, after the swelling went down; Photo 2: Day 2; Photo 3: Day 3
Nathan's been pegged with the nickname "The Bruiser".
